Mobile Storage FAQs: Costs, Access, Security and Sizes
Mobile storage with Mobule costs from $129 a month, and delivery is $99 to $249 depending on your suburb. You have up to 96 hours to pack, your belongings are kept behind CCTV and back-to-base alarm monitoring, and you can visit the Forrestdale facility on weekdays with 24 hours’ notice. The questions below cover everything else.
Costs and billing
Mobules start from $129 per month. Delivery and redelivery is charged between $99 and $249, depending on the suburb and ease of access, and each extra Mobule delivered at the same time is $40. The minimum term is one month (see short-term storage). If the rental period is 12 months or more, redelivery is free in the Perth metro area (see long-term storage). If delivery or redelivery is outside the Perth metro area we’ll calculate a fee specifically for you. The full list is on our storage prices in Perth page.
Not necessarily. Mobules start at $129 a month, and because the unit comes to you there is no van hire, fuel or second trip to pay for. It is also a lot more convenient. See our guide to keeping storage costs down.
By credit card, through our secure automatic payment system. When you place your order you pay a refundable deposit equal to one month, your first month’s storage and any packing supplies. A monthly fee is then taken from the same card on the same day every month for the length of your storage, from month two.
Delivery and redelivery
Mobile self storage is storage that comes to you. We deliver a Mobule to your door, you pack it in your own time, and we collect it and store it at our Forrestdale facility. Forget the strain and hassle of moving your stuff to a storeroom: we bring the storeroom to you.
Anywhere a car can drive to. We deliver with an 18-tonne truck and a forklift, so a driveway, parking spot or secure carpark works, provided there’s about 3 m of overhead clearance. We can’t lift a Mobule over a fence, so if you’re unsure about access, contact us first and we’ll talk it through. See our delivery areas for the suburbs we cover.
No. The forklift needs a clear path to the spot. If you can drive a car to it, we can usually get a Mobule there, with about 3 m of overhead clearance. If your only option is over a fence or through a narrow side gate, contact us first and we’ll look at alternatives.
Up to 96 hours. We leave the Mobule at your house for up to 4 days, and if you need more time, simply give us a call to ask.
Yes, at an extra charge. You generally load the Mobule yourself, but if you select our Premium service we’ll send out 2 experienced staff to load it for you. (Shining a light into the sky also summons the Mobule Men, apparently.)
On average around $149 per Mobule. Redelivery costs depend on where you’re moving to and the distance from our storage facility, so please contact our office for a quote once you know your after-storage delivery location. Redelivery is free in the Perth metro area on rentals of 12 months or more.
Yes. We have weatherproof, secure 8m³ Mobules that we can leave at your home from $169 a month. Perfect for a home reno!
Access and security
Any time between 7am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Just give 24 hours’ notice and we’ll have your Mobule ready for your arrival. Please note we’re closed on weekends. We’re only human!
Yes. With back-to-base alarm monitoring and CCTV, even the insects have trouble getting in.
It is your responsibility to insure your belongings. We carry our own insurance and will do everything to ensure the safety of your items, and if your items are not covered by your own insurance, we offer a range of options to cover you.
Sizes and packing
Three sizes: 6m³, 8m³ and 10m³, plus a weatherproof 8m³ on-site Mobule.
- 6m³ Mobule: 2.3m (l) × 1.66m (w) × 1.5m (h)
- 8m³ Mobule: 2.3m (l) × 1.66m (w) × 2m (h)
- 8m³ on-site Mobule: 2.4m (l) × 1.5m (w) × 2.2m (h)
- 10m³ Mobule: 2.3m (l) × 1.66m (w) × 2.4m (h)
Generally, one 8m³ Mobule for every 1–1.5 rooms of furniture. Our largest Mobule holds 10m³: pack it well and you’ll fit about that much furniture. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll talk you through it, or try our storage unit size guide.
What you can and cannot store
Furniture, boxed household items, sporting and seasonal gear, and business stock or archives: anything that is not on the list below, up to 1 tonne per Mobule.
Yes: for (obvious) safety reasons you can’t pack the following items:
- Liquids: fuel, oils, paint & paint thinners, varnish
- Explosives: firearms, ammunition, fireworks
- Perishables: live animals & plants, food stuffs
- Dangerous or hazardous: insecticides, liquid bleach, aerosol cans
- Flammable: matches, candles, lighters, propane gas bottles
- Batteries: lithium batteries, including e-bike, e-scooter and power-tool batteries
- Corrosive: acids, pool chemicals
- Illegal or irreplaceable: drugs, stolen property, family heirlooms
- Annoying family members
